Blog Post Seeds of the Day

I want you to come up with TWO NEW POSTS on your blogs by SUNDAY NIGHT. Each post should:

  •  be at least 300 words apiece;
  • branch off of a news or opinion piece that you found somewhere online;
  • be in some way related to stuff going on outside the United States;
  • include both a very brief summary of what the author of that piece says, and what you have to say about it.

From time to time, I will list a couple of stories or editorials that are in the news right now. You can use these as starter material for your posts, or find something entirely different. For example…

The BBC reports on a woman from West Bengal who had to give away her three daughters because, she says, she was unable to feed them.

Closer to home, Jackson Diehl discusses the foreign policy differences between President Barack Obama and GOP nominee Mitt Romney.
